Explanation Of Top 5 Ingredients
The top 5 ingredients included in Rachael Ray Nutrish Chicken/Vegetable Dog Food are: chicken, chicken meal, ground rice, soybean meal, and whole grain corn. Below you will find a brief explanation of each of these ingredients:
Chicken The top health claim made by this Rachael Ray Nutrish Chicken/Vegetable Dog Food is that it uses U.S. farm-raised chicken as the number one ingredient. It is true that this ingredient is listed first on the ingredients list, but there is something you should consider about this ingredient. Fresh chicken contains up to 80% water so, once the food is rendered , its protein content by volume will be much lower than the original content.
Chicken Meal The saving grace of this formula is that chicken meal is listed second. Do not let the word meal fool you into thinking this is some kind of by-product. Chicken meal is actually chicken meat that has been cooked down to a moisture content around 10%. This means that it contains up to 300% more protein than fresh chicken this also makes it a very valuable addition to this pet food formula. The fact that this ingredient is listed second is another benefit, though the remaining three ingredients in the top 5 for this formula are not so beneficial.

What Dog Food Is Killing Dogs
Following yesterdays announcement by the Food and Drug Administration that Sportmix brand dry kibble was responsible for the deaths of more than two dozen dogs, pet food recall grows. Apparently the suspect is aflatoxin, which is the byproduct of a corn mold that can kill pets, as evidenced by the statement issued on Monday.
Case Links Years Of Zero Grain Dog Food Use To Plaintiffs Dogs Heart Condition
Per the suit, the plaintiffs dog suffered a seizure in 2018 after a period of declining health. Thereafter, the plaintiff continued to feed her dog Nutrish Zero Grain given she was unaware that the food did not contain taurine, the lawsuit says.
In October 2018, the plaintiff took her dog to a veterinarian who prescribed medications for heart failure, the case continues. According to the suit, the vet noted the plaintiffs dog had severe cardiomegaly, consistent with DCM. The dog will be on heart medication for the rest of its life, the lawsuit says.
The plaintiff asserts in the lawsuit that she reasonably relied on both the defendants advertising and marketing representations and Rachel Rays persona as a chef who cooks health food in believing Nutrish Zero Grain dog food could offer a nutritionally balanced, complete diet for her dog. Per the suit, the woman would have paid far less than the $30 retail price, or would not have bought the product at all, had she known the defendants concealed the potentially life-threatening dangers associated with the food.
Through this action, Plaintiff is not seeking damages relating to Olivers injury, the complaint reads. Rather, Plaintiff is seeking damages and restitution relating to her years-long purchase of Defendants Nutrish Zero Grain dog food.

Rachael Ray Nutrish Wet Dog Food Review
Based on its ingredients alone, Rachael Ray Nutrish looks like an average wet product.
As a group, the brand features an average protein content of 41% and a mean fat level of 23%. Together, these figures suggest a carbohydrate content of 28% for the overall product line.
And a fat-to-protein ratio of about 56%.
Which means this Nutrish product line contains
Near-average protein. Near-average fat. And near-average carbs when compared to other wet dog foods.
When you consider the protein-boosting effect of the pea protein and peas, this looks like the profile of a wet product containing a moderate amount of meat.

However, those concerned about the presence of menadione in this recipe may wish to ignore our rating and look elsewhere for another product.
