Flush with $68 million fresh funding, pet food company JustFoodForDogs will expand its retail footprint faster than you can say, No, not on the new carpet!

Previously, we talked about having 500 locations in the next four years. Now we can do that faster, with a broader expansion of our concept, CEO Carey Tischler said in an interview Thursday. We are at over 200 locations now and we will open well over 100 more locations this year alone.

His confidence had to be buoyed by yesterdays news that U.S. pet spending hit a record-breaking high of $95.7 billion in 2019. About $37 billion of that was shelled out for pet food and treats alone, a 7% increase over 2018, according to the American Pet Products Association .

Steve King, CEO of APPA, said consumers are more educated than ever about ingredients that go into pet food and more willing to pay for quality and minimally processed productsa sweet spot for JustFoodForDogs, which uses fresh, whole ingredients that are USDA-certified for human consumption.

We normally like raw pet food because most of these are free from fillers and the meat included are in their purest forms, free from processing of any kind. However, in the case of Bravo Packings raw diet, wed have to rethink this.

Bravo Packings Performance Dog and all of Bravo Packings other raw diets have undergone a recall this year.

Although no deaths or illnesses have been associated with the food, it is troubling that the brand has once again been involved with a recall.

From 2011 to 2015, Bravo had 7 recalls, which included expanded recalls.

There was another in 2018 and another in 2019 before the one for 2021. All of the past recalls were due to the possible presence of Salmonella or Listeria.

Recall Info: On March 3, 2021, Bravo Packing, Inc. issued a voluntary recall of two of their raw pet food products for possible cross contamination after samples collected during a US Food and Drug Administration inspection tested positive for Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.

The brand expanded the recall on March 16 to include ALL of its pet food and bone products of all sizes. No lot code or date code has been provided for the recent recall so assume, for the safety of your pets, that all are possibly contaminated.

WILMINGTON, Del. JustFoodForDogs , a California-based company that invented and launched the fresh, whole-food movement for pets, is coming to Delaware. JFFD opened their first dog kitchen eight years ago in California and is advancing its mission to provide pets a better quality of life, more years and more love through a significant expansion in 2019.

The company, which currently operates more than 70 retail locations, including kitchens, pantries and store-in-store formats within California, as well as provides their food for purchase online and through veterinarian offices, opens across the country in 2019. JustFoodforDogs, the breakthrough innovator in offering highly nutritious pet meals has experienced a 400% increase in sales in the past three years, now serving more than 40 million meals annually.

The CEO of JustFoodForDogs, Carey Tischler, detailed their plans to invest $2m in a 21,000 square foot kitchen in New Castle County. The companys plans include employing up to 50 employees with an estimated payroll of $2.24M. The first Delaware kitchen is expected to produce 30,000 pounds of food daily to be distributed direct-to-consumer via online sales, as well as to JFFD pantries throughout the United States.
