We cant recommend Iams as a good dog food. Weve evaluated the ingredients and come to this decision based on the prevalence of corn in the Iams brand food. While they get good marks for having chicken as the number one ingredient, corn is not ideal in a dog food.

Corn is a common filler food that dog food companies like to use in their products because its a cheap source of empty calories. What this means is that your dog is basically eating junk food instead of more nutritious meats and veggies.

I use Health Record, NQV sardines. Royal canine is an expensive food, but it doesn’t make sense to me. I’ve never heard anything bad, but nothing good. In the dog food industry, we humans think about quality because that’s where our food comes from. I try to feed my dog according to his needs and wants, ie activity level, coat, age etc.

Every dog is different, Royal Canon may be good for one dog but not for another.

In the past weve fed our dogs and puppies IAMS because it was widely available and was branded as a premium dog food. That premium branding leads consumers to believe we are feeding our dogs something healthy and nutritious but if we look at the ingredients more closely we see a different story. We see things like animal by products, dyes, additives and preservatives we can barely pronounce in most major pet food brands. Animal byproducts are the parts of the animal deemed unfit for human consumption bones, beaks, feet, meat from diseased animals, contaminated slaughterhouse meatsyou name it and its allowed to be in your dogs food.
