Annamaets website states that Aqualuk was respectfully given its name after they spent many hours developing the food in Alaska. The term means fish in the Unupiat Eskimo language. If you are looking for a grain, gluten, and poultry-free dry food, this could be the one for your pup.

Made of naturally preserved cold water fish, this grain-free recipes main protein sources are salmon meal and herring meal. Many dogs who have skin, ear, and digestive issues caused by allergies do well on fish-based diets. Salmon and herring are naturally rich in omega fatty acids that support skin and coat health. The company offers six kibbles in the Complete Health line. This line of foods features deboned chicken, lamb, turkey, salmon, and whitefish, as well as oatmeal, barley, brown rice, sweet potatoes, and peas. Crude protein and fat percentages are typically 22 and 12 for the adult dog formulas, though they are higher for the toy, small breed, and large breed adult formulas.

CORE

The CORE line of foods is grain free, high in protein, and low carb. This line of foods includes seven recipes including a reduced fat formula for dogs that need to lose weight or who cant tolerate a lot of fat. It also has a fish variety called Ocean.

Simple

Simple includes six dry recipes, and two of them are grain free. Animal protein includes duck, salmon, turkey, and lamb, while carb sources include oatmeal, potatoes, and peas. The foods have no GMOs, meat by-products, wheat, gluten, corn, soy, dairy, eggs, artificial flavors, or preservatives.

This line of food is supposed to be good for dogs with food sensitivities or allergies. The crude protein and fat in these foods are lower than in many dog foods , but this is true of many of the Wellness dog foods. Additional Ingredients Of Interest

The food also contains tomato pomace which is the pulpy parts of the tomato. It is used as a fiber. Some critics suggest that tomato pomace is nothing but a filler. Its being used by some dog food companies today. It does provide some vitamins such as vitamin C, beta-carotene, and lycopene, but its not what most people would call essential to a dogs health. The food also has chicken liverwhich is a good organ meat for dogs and has vitamin A, though this far down the list theres probably not a lot of it. Ground flaxseed is a source of omega-3 fatty acid, but its not as good as a fish source of fatty acids. In addition, flaxseed has been linked to problems with conception with female dogs so if you are a dog breeder, you may want to avoid foods that contain flaxseed and flaxseed oil. Salmon oil is also found here and its a very good source of omega-3 fatty acids.
