Taste of the Wild dog and cat foods are made in five state-of-the-art facilities in the USA: two in California and one each in Missouri, Arkansas and South Carolina. They use some ingredients that are not USA sourced, lamb and venison from New Zealand, lamb meal from Australia, buffalo from India, s…morealmon from Norway and South America, salmon meal from South America, duck meal from France, potato protein from Germany and dried chicory root from Belgium. There are ingredients that are critical to our formulations that can only be sourced out of China. Taste of the Wild is to either include these ingredients or manufacture our foods without them, which would not be in the best interest of your pet, in their view.

Additional Ingredients Of Interest
Aside from the top five ingredients, there are several other notable ingredients found in Taste of the Wild High Prairie Canine Formula with Roasted Bison & Roasted Venison Formula. Some of these ingredients include: canola oil, egg product, roasted bison, roasted venison, tomato pomace, potato protein, pea protein, ocean fish meal, and a variety of fruits and vegetables. Canola oil is extracted from the rape seed plant and it is a source of both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Based on the guaranteed analysis we can guesstimate around 30% carbs which is great to see for a dry dog food. Taste of the Wild really stands out compared to many other dog foods, especially against those you find in the supermarkets which are much less protein, much less fat, and much higher carbs .
We find three meat ingredients at the top of the list, a combo of bison, lamb meal, and chicken meal. This packs a punch, but were also told bison is 12% of the product. Its possible the first six ingredients are also 12%, making the food 24% potato , and 12% peas.
In addition to the top three meats we also find beef, venison, eggs, and fish meal, so this should really push the animal constituents in the food to above 50%. Thats really good.
The main carb source in the food is sweet potatoes, an excellent low GI option and a better alternative to many grains or even potatoes.
As a whole the ingredients feel balanced and there arent any nasties. Its preserved naturally rather than with chemicals. All in all it really stacks up as a good formula with high protein, high fat, low carbs. Recommended.
