Whilst most dogs wont be obviously ill immediately, onions damage the red blood cells and prevent them from carrying oxygen, making animals very ill after a few days. Macadamia nuts and walnuts also cause severe symptoms in dogs, although all nuts can potentially be dangerous thanks to their high fat content.
