Sample buyer reviewMy Basenji has been a picky eater since day one. I had her on ProPlan and she was under eating due to not liking it. I ordered the large bag so I couldnt switch earlier. Finally, I was recently able to switch her over to this food and now she enjoys eating and eats her recommended amount! She never had any stomach upset in the beginning either. So happy with this food!

Taste Of The Wild High Prairie Food Reviewed
The brand originated in 2007 by Richard Kampeter and Gary Schell, two brothers-in-law from Missouri. They started out small by selling their products locally and within a few years, they grew their operations to a global scale.
The company is now owned by the Diamond pet food company and their manufacturing facilities are spread out all over the US including Missouri, California, South Carolina, and Arkansas.
The company seems to focus its aim on providing a natural diet heavy in real meat proteins, all for an affordable price. This makes this brand a very good option for dog owners looking for a relatively decent product, but not one that causes them to break the bank every month.
The company also places a strong focus on quality assurance and general food safety, but this may be due to a recall issue that they experienced, which well cover later. The High Prairie brand is actually one of nine different dry food products that Taste of the Wild offers. Overall, the product seems to have the usually held when it comes to protein, fat, carbs, and fiber percentages.

Which Types Of Dogs Might Do Better With A Different Brand
Though there are exceptions, many vets discourage the use of grain-free food unless a dog has a known or heavily suspected grain sensitivity. If your dog can digest grains without issue, then you might want to check out the Taste of the Wild Ancient Prairie Canine Recipe instead.
Another thing to consider is that the High Prairie line does not offer anything specifically formulated for senior dogs. As an alternative, you might want to try something like the CANIDAE PURE Limited Ingredient Grain-Free Senior Recipe.

Taste Of The Wild High Prairie Recall History
Taste of the Wild has had a few issues with the recalls. In 2012 there was a recall due to issues with someone else and the dry dog food brands and there was also a class action lawsuit filed against the company because of it.
The Diamond Pet Food company eventually settled the lawsuit, but it definitely left an impact. Also, in 2018 and 2019 the brand was accused of having a dangerous amount of toxins and heavy metals in various dog food brands.
Another slew of lawsuits were filed against the brand, but they did not result in any recalls or legal rulings against the company. All of the recall information for the company is available on the FDA website.
