Where Is Kirkland Brand Dog Food Manufactured
All of Kirklands dry dog food products are made in five different company-owned manufacturing facilities by Diamond Dog Food. All of which are in America, however, vary in regions.
Two of the facilities are based in Arkansas, California, one is in South Carolina, and the final one is in Missouri.
Most of the ingredients also originate from the United States, nonetheless, there are some critical ingredients that cannot be sourced domestically on American soil at the high quality that the company strives for.
Therefore, certain ingredients are sourced from overseas such as dried chicory root from Belgium, and potato protein from Germany.

Kirkland Signature Nature’s Domain Beef Meal & Sweet Potato
This grain-free pet food is carefully designed to meet all the nutritional requirements of dogs of all ages. It is crafted to bring adequate nutrition for the overall health and vitality of pets.
The recipe is led by beef meal, a more protein-dense form of meat. Compared to fresh beef, beef meal will always contain more protein per volume. Fresh beef contains around 75% water.
In the process called rendering, most of the water is removed, but many of the meats nutrients will remain. So a pound of fresh beef will always contain less protein than a pound of beef meal.
While most of the protein comes from animal meat, you can also find supporting plant-based proteins. Peas, garbanzo beans, tomato pomace, potato protein, and pea protein also contribute some amount of protein to help the food reach a total of 24%. Whats more these ingredients also contain fiber, vitamin A, folate, iron, thiamine, vitamin C, and so on.
The sweet potatoes provide the most amount of carbohydrates, although some come from the plant ingredients mentioned above. Why are carbs important? Carbs in dog food play many roles, but the main ones include giving dogs energy, for creating texture in the food, and providing canines with an adequate amount of fiber in their diet.
While fiber is not a required nutrient in pet food, you often see it in the guaranteed analysis label. And pet food manufacturers often place an emphasis on their foods fiber content.

Kirkland Dog Food Company Overview
Kirkland is a division of Costco, one of Americas largest club style retail wholesale distributors. As being apart of that corporate giant, theyre constantly under a microscope, which is good for consumers. To date, Kirkland has only had two recalls on dog food, and both instances were found to have no cases of the potential contamination outbreak. They pay attention to quality, but it wasnt always that way.
Theyve changed up their formula a few times in the past, getting rid of a few filler products and replacing them with clever titles for more filler products. Part of the issue here is that everyone in the dog food game is doing it, so theres not many other options everyone is going to use a little bit of filler, just sure to pay attention to percentages.

Purchasers Of Costco Kirkland Brand Dog Foods Could Get Money Back As Part Of A Class Action Settlement
Posted By: George GombossyJuly 24, 2021
Purchasers of some Costco branded dog food could receive money as the result of a class action suit accusing the company of falsely advertising its food as being grain free. The dog foods were manufactured by Diamond Pet Foods.
The dog food is under the Kirkland store brand and is for Natures Bounty and Taste of The Wild, which by the way I have used for more than 10 years.
Purchasers with or without receipts can get as much as $100 from the proposed settlement. With a receipt you could get up to $100 and $5 without. Costco keeps track of all your purchases so get a copy of your receipt from the membership desk.
Request for payment should be made by Oct. 4 by filling out this form, which includes registering.
The recent proposed settlement covers anyone who bought the affected products after March 12, 2017 and up to and including May 3, 2021. The settlement, which has had preliminary approval, still needs a final approval from a federal judge. Diamond denied it did anything wrong which is standard in this kinds of suits but still agreed to the settlement.
The 2020 suit says that Costcos and Diamonds claims that the ingredients the safety of the Kirkland Products for dogs that may be sensitive or allergic to grains, are false.
In fact, the Kirkland Products contain significant amounts wheat.
