Whole Earth Farms Grain
Whole Earth Farms Grain-Free Dry Dog Food is another healthy food that contains pork, beef, and lamb proteins for strong muscle growth. Hs grain-free food also includes apples, sweet potatoes, flaxseed, and other important fruits and vegetables that boost energy and supply antioxidants. Its an easy to digest formula that shouldnt upset your pets delicate digestive tract.
The downside to Whole Earth Farms food is that the pork, beef, and lamb proteins are far down the list of ingredients while pork meal is at the top. While pork meal isnt necessarily bad, its not as good as the whole meat. We also noticed that this food caused a few of our dogs to begin scratching and felt that it was drying out their skin. Other dogs wouldnt eat it, and we werent sure if it was because they didnt like the flavor or because the kibble was too hard.
American Natural Premium Original Recipe Dry Dog Food Is the last brand of dog food made in the U.S.A. on our list, but it still has some good qualities. It features a blend of chicken, pork, fish, and egg flavors that many dogs will enjoy. Its fortified with probiotics and includes complex carbohydrates from brown rice, barley, and oat flour. The food is cooked in small batches at a low temperature to preserve freshness and flavor, and it contains no chemical preservatives.

Blue Buffalo: About The Company
Blue Buffalo came about the same way as most dog food companies, from a place of passion. Commercial dog food at the time Blue Buffalo seemed to be slim pickinstuffed with all sorts of preservatives and artificial additives.
The Bishop family had an Airedale Terrier named Blue. Blue was an innovator, moving pets away from pet foods that had harmful fillers and artificial ingredients to create a healthy eating experience. Blue paved the way toward better nutrition for dogs to live their entire lifespan.
Since then, the company has grown exponentially, sharing its recipes globally. While Blue is ever-expanding, they have pet food lines in both wet food and dry kibble. There are no fresh or raw options at this time, although they are very innovative and go along well with the times.
In fact, Blue recently tossed around the idea of adding more wet food options to satisfy the market. So, we expect to see Blue come out with innovative pet food as time passes.

Where Is Blue Buffalo Dog Food Manufactured
The company manufactures all of its foods in the United States, including its Joplin, Missouri facility, except for some treats, which are manufactured in Ireland.
All of the food is sourced across the globe. However, some of the ingredients in the food is manufactured outside of the US, though the company isnt clear on where these ingredients are made.
The company is headquartered in Wilton, Connecticut.
Has Blue Buffalo Dog Food Been Recalled
Yes, Blue Buffalo Dog Food has been recalled. To be more precise, the company has three recalls.
In March 2017, there was a voluntary recall of Wilderness Rocky Mountain Red Meat Dinner Wet Food due to a high level of naturally-occurring beef thyroid hormones that cause restlessness, increased heart rate, weight loss, urination, and increased thirst.
The Food and Drug Administration reported a single pet parent whose dog developed these symptoms and later recovered. Blue Buffalo investigated and decided to recall the batch.
In October 2010, a scientist at the Michigan State University investigated why dogs around the country were falling sick. It found that these dogs had high levels of vitamin D in their blood. 16 of these dogs were eating the BLUE Buffalo Wilderness Chicken Recipe diet.
The company recalled all bags of BLUE Basics Salmon Recipe, BLUE Buffalo Wilderness Chicken, and BLUE Life Protection Adult Large Breed Chicken Recipe, having the best before dates of 7/12/11 through 10/26/11.
And finally, in April 2007, there was a voluntary recall of many pet foods and one batch of Buffalo baked dog treats. They contained rice protein obtained from Wilbur-Ellis, which was contaminated with melamine before arriving Blue Buffalo production facility.

Does Buying Pet Food That Says Made In Usa On The Label Automatically Mean That Your Dog/cat Is 100% Safe
The answer is no, but he/she will be SAFER. Despite where pet food is made, there is still a risk of bacteria contamination. Just like human food, there are no guarantees. Most pet food is not kept in consistent temperature conditions. Heat and humidity can promote bacteria growth. Purchasing pet food made in the USA could decrease this risk as time in transport is lessened. This could decrease exposure to temperature changes.
It is not required to list where pet food ingredients come from.
The same is true with human food. Reading the ingredient label and doing company research is very important! Remember, the huge pet food recall in 2007? Cats and dogs all over the US were being sickened and killed from pet food that contained melamine. This ingredient originated from China. However, it still was found in products manufactured in the USA. How was this possible? Some pet food made in America contains fillers, or additional ingredients added to the product to bulk it up andserves no nutritional purpose.
Dog Foods To Keep An Eye On
The following companies are just a few that use the Made in the USA label on their food but source their ingredients outside the US.
Unlike the companies listed above that make dog food in the USA, these companies have not taken the pet food pledge to full transparency of their ingredient source and quality.
This means that these foods could literally contain anything from anywhere, even though this may not always be so.
Either way, here are the companies you should always investigate further:
As a final note, Id like to add that while some pet food manufacturers and companies may not source all of their ingredients in the United States, that does not ultimately make their formulas bad or harmful to dogs.
Several top dog food brands cannot 100% claim the dog food made in the USA label but have a great nutrient profile, no dog food recalls, perfect reviews from pet owners, and an outstanding reputation.
I recommend researching each brand separately and judge them on a case-by-case basis.

Does Blue Buffalo Source Ingredients From China
Showing 1 Answer
Many of Blue Buffalo’s ingredients, such as their grains and most of their meats, come from the U.S. Their lamb and venison can be free range from the either the U.S. or New Zealand. Their rabbit is sourced from Europe. Their trout can come from either the U.S. or Canada, and their wild boar can com…moree from the U.S. or Australia. Where possible their suppliers are instructed to source their ingredients from the United States. Where the ingredients are not readily available here in the U.S., such as many vitamins, minerals, and nutriceuticals, their suppliers will only work with reputable foreign companies, and subject all ingredients to rigorous quality testing. None of their primary ingredients are sourced from China. All of their ingredients are USDA approved and inspected.

One Trend Among Superzoo New Products Involved Some Surprisingly Specific Origin Claims
I attended SuperZoo 2017 at the end of July, and one of my first stops on the show floor was the New Product Showcase. Many new products followed trends I already expected the clean label trend is alive and well, plenty of premium and superpremium formulas were on display, and the freeze-dried/refrigerated/raw market continues to grow. One thing that struck me in particular, however, was the evolution of the Made in USA claim.
