Ollie Dog Food Review: Is It A Good Pick
Is the food that youre feeding your dog safe for them to consume?
There are hundreds of dog food brands on the market. However, not all of them use high-quality ingredients. Pet food companies are allowed by the AAFCO and the FDA to use 4-D meat, which is meat from dead, decaying, diseased, and disabled animals. Scary, right?
There are a number of companies filling the need for fresh healthy dog food. After all, good nutrition equals good health. One of these companies is Ollie, which is a dog food meal delivery service. If you want to see my full list of best fresh dog food companies, read this blog post.
In this blog post, I give my Ollie dog food review, discussing the quality of ingredients used by the company, nutritional analysis, customer reviews, and more.

The Farmers Dog Testimonials
After looking through the feedback from 2 websites, I found that The Farmers Dog scored well too. It had an average of 4.7 out of 5 stars based on 2,549 reviews.
Most dogs absolutely loved the food and looked forward to mealtime, even the picky eaters. A small handful had a bad reaction to the food but this can happen with any diet change.
The Farmers Dog fans had a lot of praise for their customer service which they said went above and beyond in some cases.
One customers dog passed away and The Farmers Dog sent them flowers to say they were sorry for their loss.
Here are some reviews from happy customers of The Farmers Dog.

What Kind Of Homemade Snacks Can You Make A Dog
- Peanut butter: Rascal has his own dedicated jar of peanut butter. He loves a traditional kong but you can also mold and freeze peanut butter in any shape for a quick frozen treat. When the jar is almost finished I break out my peanut butter spoon.
- Greek Yogurt Ice Cream: In the summer we blend up unflavored Greek yogurt, fresh berries, and peanut butter. Place a spoonful or two into a silicone cupcake pan and freeze for a few hours. These make for a great dog ice cream.
- Dehydrated Sweet Potatoes: Rascals favorite easy treat. We love bringing these over to family and friends houses so Rascal always has a healthy treat on hand.

Our Personal Experience: Why I Recommend Ollie
I was initially enticed to sign up for Ollie when I saw that they offered 50% off the first box. 50% off my first box also came with a 25% off the next two boxes. I thought that I didnt have much to lose, so I bought my first box immediately and wasnt disappointed.
The meals are delivered every week. You can also customize when and where the product is delivered. Every 4 weeks or so, I go into my profile and update my preferences, and double-check that my payments are still going through. It also caught my eye that Ollie is available in both the U.S. and Australia.
I was initially skeptical about the plan, so I called the customer service line, and they walked me through the entire process. I had to provide my name, email, and phone number when signing up. The customer service agent was incredibly kind and seemed to actually care about me as a customer, which was very refreshing.
My four-year-old Maltese has always been such a light eater. The amount of food that I receive from Ollie is too much dog food for my Maltese. Since its fresh dog food, I found myself throwing away the extra pet food. I then discovered the Ollie offers the ability to adjust portion sizes in case your dog is a picky eater like mine.
Deliveries were always on time, and the Ollie dog food was amongst the best fresh dog food that Ive personally seen or smelt. It looks very tasty, even to me. When it comes time for a meal, Im tempted to taste it and provide an Ollie dog food review myself.

This DIY dog food recipe is a time- and money-saver. The mutt meatballs are tasty, healthy, and easy to be fed to your dog. They can serve as a treat to take along when youre going out together. You can store the extra meatballs in a container in the refrigerator. As they contain fat, make sure you dont give them to a dog that suffers from gastrointestinal diseases.

The tray is sealed using a peelable plastic sheet. Opening it can sometimes be a little tricky.
Another good thing is that you can recycle everything but the ice bagswhich is great for the environment!

Our experience: Our 18-year-old Dachshund had many ailments towards the end of her life, one being Irritable Bowel Disease, which required her to be on single-source protein foods that she quickly grew tired of. After finding the Salmon & Rice flavor of Portland Pet Food, we thought wed give it a try, and she immediately loved it. We started with using it as a topper but shifted to feeding her just that food for meals. We felt at ease knowing she was enjoying her fresh food and was also getting the nutrients she needed to keep her going, especially towards the end. Now, we use a variety of flavors as a topper for our 2-year-old Boston Terrier and she loves it, too. What sets them apart: Portland Pet Food Companys human-grade, made-in-the-USA meal pouches are not intended to be full-on meal replacements rather, these concentrated meal packs are designed as mixers, toppers, or soft treats for picky dogs and busy families to compliment and boost the nutrition of your dogs regular kibble. They are shelf stable, travel well, and can substitute the occasional meal, which makes them a great option for a weekend away with your pup or as a treat to bring with you to the sitters.

Can I Mix Ollie With My Dogs Kibble
Yes! In fact, Ollie used to offer two supplemental meal plans for dog parents who wanted to do just this. The Mostly Ollie plan offered 50% of the full plan, which helped you still provide a meaningful increase to your dogs nutrition without breaking the bank. The Some Ollie plan acted more as a healthy kibble topper, which can be perfect for placating a picky eater who has grown bored of their normal food.
However, Ollie has since discontinued each partial plan, so theyre only available to people already on the subscription. This doesnt mean you cant still order a full subscription and mix it 50-50 with your dogs kibble, though. Youll just want to periodically skip shipments so you dont end up with too much food.

Testing Ollie Dog Food
To write this review, I went through the entire subscription process to create a custom meal plan for my dog, Archie. As I mentioned, hes a medium-sized dog about 30 to 35 pounds and hes 3 ½ years old.
When I first started reviewing dog foods, Archie was somewhat of a reluctant tester. As a puppy, he was never a big eater and he frequently turned up his nose at treats. Now, however, hes gotten used to the testing gig and he gets excited whenever a box arrives at the house hes sure its for him.
I appreciated that Ollie not only asked for Archies current weight but his ideal weight as well. If Im being honest, he may be a little overweight and I liked the idea of having his meals pre-portioned to make it easier to scale back his caloric intake.
But what did Archie actually think of Ollies fresh dog food?
Archie can be a little skeptical about testing dry dog food unless its cheap and loaded with artificial flavor . When it came time to test Ollie, however, Archie was immediately interested. He seemed to find the smell appealing and he gobbled up the food as soon as his bowl hit the floor.
- Real chicken as the first ingredient
- Relatively short list of ingredients
- Rich in moisture, good for hydration and digestion
- Relatively low carbohydrate content
- Contains several starchy carbohydrates
