Rachael Ray Nutrish vs Simply Nourish Dog food review

I bought this for my cat for the first time a month ago. She got a sore throat stopped eating and two weeKS later I had to put her down. Coincidence? Cat food should never be the reason our pets get sick and die.

my girl has been eating it for some time now, she started urinating a lot and within a day or so has blood in it. after a 10 day cycle of antibiotics she seemed better for a week or so and i noticed it was taking awhile for her to produce any urine when she tried to go. today i had an x-ray done and there were 3 VERY large bladder stones that were there! the vet seemed to think it was the Rachel Ray and now i get to pay for an expensive operation, which is really the least of my worries, she is 9 years old and first off i dont want her to be in any pain, but at this point she will be until she has surgery, and certainly will be after for some time, and secondly i dont want to possibly lose her, and thirdly, i dont want her to be in pain. i am sorry you are all going through similar fates, i will pray for you and your pups.

Re-tried the nutrish again, she threw up all night long and dead 2 days later. Dont know if its the food but cant help but wonder.

You would think that if youre paying a lot of money for a dog food, it is going to have high quality ingredients. Sadly, that doesnt seem like how many dog food makers think. Instead of wholesome ingredients, some manufacturers will try to use lesser-quality ingredients, thinking that no one will take notice. Well, be one of the people who take notice of what these manufacturers are putting in your dogs kibble!

When you pick up any bag of dog food, youll want to pay close attention to the ingredient list and look these high quality ingredient sources:

Freeman argued the amount of water in wet food might make it an unwise investment, and instead recommended you go with dry food. One benefit to dry food , she noted, is that the friction of chewing it can help keep your dogs teeth and gums healthy. Its also less messy. Morgan added that bags of dry food also tend to be more affordable compared to the other options.

However, Morgan noted that kibble typically includes less meat and often includes some sort of grain, legume, or potato. If you go with kibble, Morgan suggested topping the dry food with a bit of canned food, meat from home, or other toppers.

Rachael Ray Nutrish Dog Food Verdict

The Rachael Ray Nutrish dog food brand is advertised as being super-premium and all-natural, but you cant always believe everything you read from the brands website. There is no doubt that Nutrish contains quality ingredients like real meat and veggies, but I wouldnt go so far as to label it super-premium.

While it is true that Nutrish uses natural ingredients, the quality of those ingredients is questionable, at least, when it comes to certain recipes. For example, ground corn is a common ingredient in several formulas although it doesnt provide any nutritional value to dogs. And it is still included even though almost all pet owners know that pet food manufacturers use corn as a filler to bulk up the calorie count.

The fact that Rachael Ray Nutrish dog food always has a high-quality named meat protein as the main ingredient improves the brands entire standing. Also, a wide variety of different meats present is the feature that sets Nutrish apart from the brands of similar quality.

On the other hand, Im not really impressed with the fats and oils which are used in Nutrish recipes. Almost all recipes feature chicken fat as the main source, with some other fat or oil further down the list to bulk up the fat levels and make the food more appealing. Compared to other premium brands and the types of fat they use, Nutrish is a bit disappointing.

With so many different and nutritious options you will definitely manage to find the food you approve of and your dog likes.

Giving Rachael’s 15 Year Old Pittie A New Sense Of Vitality

    May 09, 2019

Being such a specialized service, Animal Ortho Care and Derrick Campana receive lots of customers through word of mouth recommendations. Little did Derrick know that one of his clients, who had been on the Rachael Ray show, would recommend him to Rachael. Since Rachaels dog was having issues with her spine and legs, she advised Rachael to get in contact with Derrick as soon as possible.

Her representative from the show reached out to get a good time for Rachael to call me and she did. Rachael discussed with me the issues Isaboo had been having as an almost 15 year old dog. Some of the issues were Intervertebral Disc Disease , arthritis in the hocks bilaterally, and other conditions associated with old age, says Derrick.

Isaboo is extremely important to Rachael and her husband John, and is a big part of their life. She is Rachael and Johns child, Derrick states.

Many measures were taken to ensure Isaboo would be as comfortable as possible in her recovery. In short, Derrick says he, used a custom L’il Back Bracer to help reduce the pain associated with Intervertebral Disc Disease . In addition, the AOC team created, custom bilateral tarsal braces to help give some support to the arthritic hocks.

Despite being a few months since Derrick helped Isaboo, Rachael recently stated on her show that Isaboo wears her braces daily.

    Top 5 Ingredients*

    Our Analysis

We stand divided on Rachael Ray Nutrish dog food, which is why we only give this brand 3 stars. We like that the formulas contain meat or meat products at the top of the ingredient list, as dogs need a great deal of protein in their diets for optimum health. In addition, egg products and healthy vegetables add additional protein, fiber and nutrients. However, we find that both the wet and dry versions of this brand contain a number of controversial ingredients that offer little nutritional value for dogs. For example, brown rice is not necessarily bad for dogs, but it offers few vitamins, minerals or proteins. In addition, the use of corn, soybean meal and pasta made from wheat flour can cause problems for dogs with allergies. Overall, Rachael Ray Nutrish dog food is just an average brand, and although it is cheaper than many other premium dog foods, you may want to consider paying a bit more for a dog food with fewer fillers.

Oils & Fats: Poultry Fat + Olive Oil

Fats are an important component of your dogs diet. In fact, dogs are capable of digesting foods with enough fat to cause most people to barf or go into a food coma.

Rachael Rays Real Chicken & Veggies Recipe has a couple of different sources of fat, namely poultry fat and olive oil. Poultry fat is a decent fat for dogs it is affordable and most dogs appear to find it delicious. However, it isnt as rich in omega-3 fatty acids as many fish oils are. Olive oil is a fantastic source of fat for dogs, and it is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids.

In total, Real Chicken & Veggies derives about 33% of its calories from fats, which is a reasonable amount that is similar to many other dog foods.

Core Protein: Chicken & Chicken Meal

The first two ingredients listed on the Chicken & Veggies Recipe are chicken and chicken meal, which are both nutritious proteins that dogs often find delicious.

You always want to stick with foods that feature a whole protein at the top of the ingredient list, and you also want to ensure that any meat meals or byproducts contained in it are sourced from a single protein.

Rachael Ray Nutrish Dog Food Recall History

Ive spent a lot of time trying to find out if Rachel Ray Nutrish dog products have been recalled. After an extensive search, Im pleased to inform you that none of Rachael Ray dog products have ever been recalled.

However, I managed to find recalls for some of the brands cat products. In 2015 the brand had to recall five variations of its wet cat food recipes because the FDA established that these products contained higher levels of vitamin D.

It is interesting to note that a customer filed a lawsuit against Rachael Ray Nutrish alleging that the Nutrish line contains glyphosate, a dangerous herbicide which is present in many dog products. However, a federal judge tossed the class action lawsuit due to the lack of specificity.
